Asahirō
Fukuta Kotarō was from Saga Prefecture.
He came to Taiwan in 1906. He toiled hard and
opened the restaurant, Asahirō. In 1920, he
invested several thousand Japanese yen and
bought a house on Pier Road (currently Minzu
Road/Zhengyi Street). He opened a branch of
Asahirō there in 1923. He was not only a
successful businessman, but also a visionary
who had profound insights into future
development.
