Gotō Dental Clinic
Gotō came to Penghu to set up his dental clinic at the beginning of the
Taisho era because there was no dentist on the Island. He mostly provided
free services to the islanders, who lacked an understanding of the process,
and taught them about dental hygiene. He was a successful dentist who
enjoyed the trust of the residents here. Also, being a member of the Council
of Magong Town, Gotō spared no effort and time to take care of the residents.
From this, we can see that Gotō was genuinely a hard-working figure. His son
now serves as a contract dentist at the Navy Hospital.
