Hara Hirao, the owner of Maruhachi Hotel
Hara Hirao was born in Saga Prefecture. His father, Hara Kuro, used
to run a designated store for the navy in Sasebo City in 1896, but he moved
to Taiwan to run another designated store for the Guard District of the
Navy in Magong. Although he kickstarted his business here with strong
momentum and became quite successful, he retreated into seclusion
several years later.

Hirao succeeded in his father's business and started running a hotel
last year. Nine clerks from his hotel later became successful businessmen,
which was relatively rare. He now serves essential roles, such as a member
of the Magong Town Council, and commits himself to the region.
